As always, thanks for the interest and support I've gotten from around the country from guys waiting on this books release, I know it has taken me quite a while to get it into shape- and I appreciate your patience!
Latest update on the book: What I hope will end up being the final revision has been turned in to the publisher. I'm awaiting word on the layout, diagrams, and structure. I'm hoping to be able to report soon that the book has gone into production and will be available soon. Cover art has been chosen, you can see that under the "Books" link above, where you can also read some of the testimonials from coaches around the country who have been able to read a preview.

Clinic season may be over, but I still ahve some exciting news upcoming. I recorded an interview with John Anderson, host of the "Coaches Corner" radio show on the Compusports radio network. We talked a lot about defense and Pattern Read Coverage in particular. Though our interview went well over an hour and a half, I believe John usually edits down to accommodate his program. There will be a podcast that will be posted after it airs, and when it is up and running, I'll be sure to post the link so you can listen to our discussion.
My last clinic of the season has come and gone, and I have had a chance to meet a lot of coaches from across the country. Many of you brought home my clinic power points, but may not have had an opportunity to pick up the videos as of yet. Under the Discography link on this website, you can now find a discounted rate on the DVD series while I still have videos in stock Click on the video you are interested in, or the button for the entire set for a post clinic season discount. Credit card payments are accepted, as well as paypal.
The end of clinic season is almost here, tomorrow morning I'll give my last clinic at U of Illinois. My topic is linebacker play in the run game: "Linebacker Play: Reading Windows to Stop the Run." Look forward to seeing a bunch of Illinois Coaches there.
My last scheduled clinic of the season is coming up this weekend. I will be speaking at the University of Illinois clinic this Saturday, April 2, from 10:35- 11:40 in the Buckeye/Wolverine Room athe the Hilton Garden Inn. I will be discussing Linebacker Play: Reading Windows to Stop the Run, and I will have the DVD series through Coaches Choice, as well as my clinic power points available while I'm there. I look forward to doing it one more time this clinic season, & hope for a good turn out from Illinois HS Coaches.
We are now about 24 hours from the last clinic in the St. Louis area for this off season. I'll be speaking at the final in the McKendree University clinic series tomorrow night at schiappa's restaraunt in O'Fallon, IL. Social hour starts at 6:00, clinic starts at 7:00. New topic this time, so even if you saw Glazier or Nike Coach of the Year, it will be a good clinic to come out to see. Topic: Developing Linebackers- technique, drill, and coaching. Looking forward to seeing you there tommorrow night!
Great linebackers go from out of control top end speed to under control and make tackles. The key to being able to do this is the Shimmy. The attached video shows the shimmy, a few drills you can use to help players ability to translate from top end speed to under control and make tackles, as well as some video that shows what happens when players effectively use the shimmy, and those that come in out of control.

In other news, the McKendree clinic is two weeks from today at Schiappa's restautrant in O'Fallon- 7:00 PM. I'll more than likely be presenting on linebacker play- including fundamentals, block destruction, tackling, drills, technique, and film. I'm def. looking forward to that. I just recorded with John Anderson on the "Coaches Corner" radio show. He is a radio host from western North Carolina that does a weekly session with football coaches from across the country. In this session, he wanted to discuss pattern read coverage with me, and find out what we do with it here at O'Fallon. We did over an hour, so I;m sure John will have to edit it down to make it fit his format, but I think that there is a ton of good information. It will be available in podcast form in April, and I will certainly pass along more information as I learn more about when it will be up. The website for other archived sessions is:
http://www.theothnetwork.com/CompuSports.htm. I'm looking forward to hearing from more coaches around the country as a result of this interview... A lot of coaches I've met this clinic season have asked about game prep and what we look for in our opponents. We use Apex software, which is- in my mind- the best available to anyone currently looking to do something for their film. We enter data and run reports on formation tendencies, personnell tendencies, down and distance, etc.. then film is viewable from all of those reports. We can also look at opponents play calling, and make sure that our team, interior, and 7on7 scripts for that week's practice matches up with what plays are being called predominantly by our opponent. It has really given us an advantage in weekly prep and in-game play calling.
